Brief Bio
John Grundy is Australian Laureate Fellow and Professor of Software Engineering at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. His five year Laureate programme on Human-centric Model-driven Software Engineering aims to address some of the deficiencies in current software development practices that fail to take account of diverse software developer human characteristics and diverse software end user human characteristics. He leads the Human-centric Software Engineering (HumaniSE) lab and has published over 500 refereed papers in software tools, visual modelling languages, model-driven software engineering, software architecture, requirements engineering, and software security. He is a Fellow of Automated Software Engineering and Fellow of Engineers Australia.
Hourieh Khalajzadeh
Monash University

Brief Bio
Hourieh Khalajzadeh is a Research Fellow in the HumaniSE Lab. Hourieh has been involved in developing tools and techniques tailored for end-users and domain experts and visual languages to improve communications and collaborations in multidisciplinary teams. Hourieh's research interests include model-driven software engineering, domain-specific visual languages, mining software repositories, and designing human-centric software tools and techniques.

SCOPE

Software is designed and built primarily to solve human needs. However, many software systems have issues with cost overruns (badly captured requirements); hard-to-maintain and dangerous solutions (incorrect technology choice, usage or deployment); and hard-to-use software that does not meet users’ needs (poor understanding of user needs and poor design). Many of these problems can be traced to a lack of understanding and incorporation of end user human-centric issues. This special track will focus on showcasing emerging approaches to better incorporating the human aspect into software engineering processes, methods, techniques, and tools. This includes work focusing on better supporting the human aspects of stakeholders and end users of the software, such as age, gender, personality, emotions, language, disability, etc.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
  • New Theories on Human-Centric Software Engineering
  • New Methods and Techniques to Incorporate Human-Centric Issues into Requirements and Design
  • New Tools to Assist in Human-Centric Requirements Capture, Design, Implementation and Testing
  • Supporting Human-Centric Issues in Model-Driven Software Engineering
